Eastern Railroad Brass Car Lock by Ritchie & Boyden

Item Details

Description

A very nice lock made by Ritchie & Boyden for the Eastern Railroad. This is the standard box car lock keying. The front has the maker's name on the dust cover and a patent date of 1867 on the shackle. The back drop has a fine "ERR C" stamp. One picture shows the unusual 3 dimensional bit required. This is an uncommon maker for the Eastern. There are several links of hand forged chain attached. The Eastern merged into the Boston & Maine Railroad in 1885.
