Antique Ornate solid 14K yellow gold with rose gold frame lens c. 1890 Victorian lorgnette. Gold Embossed throughout with floral wreaths, bows, and flower pot with arrows. The spring loaded lenses release and unfold automatically with depression of the side lever. A truly spectacular piece.A lorgnette is a pair of spectacles with a handle used to hold them in place, rather than fitting over the ears. The lorgnette was usually used as a piece of jewelry, rather than to enhance vision. Fashionable ladies usually preferred them to spectacles.
