This vase has been designed in the style of Japanese imari and extremely intricately and finely painted with rust-colored paint. Accents in gold and black. Blue underglaze in the area around the foot. The main motif, present twice, shows the Seven Sages in the bamboo grove, the Zhulin Qixian, all known by name and, in part, his-torical, including ministers. In the smaller fields are a bouquet of flowers and, in addition, many floral elements; on the shoulder, phoenixes and, on the neck, pine trees, plums, bamboo (the "Three Friends of Winter"), rock and birds in lobed fields. On the underside is the coin-style inscription Fu gui chang chun, "wealth, honor and eternal spring". Very good condition.
