Chinese TÕung-kuan stoneware pottery ewer, likelyTang Dynasty from the ChÕang-sha region, the ovoid body rising from a short spreading foot to a cylindrical neck with everted rim, divided into four lobes, one side with a short polygonal spout, the other with a double-stranded loop handle, painted with grasses and plants in underglaze copper-green and iron-brown, covered overall with a yellowish-green glaze stopping short of the foot to reveal the buff body. 7.75" H X 5.5" over spout and handle. Minor age-related wear.
