Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A blackware stirrup jar in the form of an abstract fish or bird, with one pointed "tail" end, a raised area that may signify a face, and two broad, bump-like wings or fins along the sides. In the center is a spout with two miniature birds perched, one on either side of it on the body of the vessel. Size: 8.8" W x 7.25" H (22.4 cm x 18.4 cm)
