This is a beautiful Tyn or feather "Ju Ju" Headdress from the Bamoun or Bamileke people, Cameroon, West Africa. Such headdress have been termed “Ju Ju” hats by collectors here in the west, traditionally such a feather headdress is known as Tyn, which translates as “feather” in the local language. Locally such bright, colorful Tyn are valued in the Bamileke Kingdom as status objects and as symbols of prosperity. This gorgeous example measures 31 inches in diameter by 12 inches in height. It is in good condition, dating to the late 20th century. This headdress is ready for hanging and will make a stunning addition to any home or office ethnic decor.
