Early Autumn New Mexico.
Circa 1920s.
Titled verso and signed lower left front.
Lester Alphonso Gillette studied painting all around the U.S. under a number of prominent teachers and accomplished artists including John F. Carlson and William Merritt Chase. He turned to painting full time in 1920 and worked in the artist colonies of Provincetwon and Woodstock and later painted in Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, and locales throughout New England. His works are held in a number of museum collections.
Sight through the frame measures 14.5 x 19.5 with an overall framed measurement of 19.5 x 24.25 inches.
