Description
A superb Electrotype damascened and parcel-gilt silver plaque entitled "A Pompeian Lady at her Toilette" designed by Leonard Morel-Ladeuil (French, 1820-1888) for Elkington, dated 1876. The circular plaque of a partially draped woman reclining on a couch gazing into a hand mirror, attended by three handmaids, set in the atrium of a Pompeian villa, with gilt scrolled border set with bosses, silver and gilt damascened outer border with acanthus leaf, scroll, griffin, and mask decoration, signed within the plate "Morel-Ladeiul, Inv & Fecit, 1876," and "Elkington". 25" Wide.
