Description
Cream satin bodice figured with a cream and red floral repeat having short gauze balloon sleeve and collar, trimmed with cream lace and yellow gauze ribbon bows, full skirt over cream satin with side pocket, padded hem and linen lining. Letter from Doris Langley Moore Nov. 19, 1963 describing a "large batch of objects" worn by the Countess of Lovelace or a family member, purchased from the Lord King's family by way of Mr. William King. This cream sprigged dress is not mentioned by description in the letter- only a "mushroom striped dress", she also states "The size, style and date of the clothes would fit Byron's daughter, Ada, born 1815, but there is no proof. I can only say they are indisputably from that family", B-30, W-24, L-50. (Bodice heavily mended under arms, missing one shoulder bow, few pinholes and stress marks to gauze, underskirt has minor edge wear and small black marks, snap and hook & eye closures added) good.
