Description
1675 President John Adams Provenance Connection Richard Allestree Government of the Tongue Protestant Devotional
“Medicines as purify the blood; so this Leprosy of the Tongue will still spread farther, if it be not checked in its Spring and source, by the mortifying of those corrupt inclinations, which feed and heighten it.”
--Richard Allestree, The Government of the Tongue
Richard Allestree was an English Royalist churchman and provost of Eton College from 1665. This 17th century devotional is quite rare.
