DESCRIPTION: An antique Chinese lacquered papier mache basket. Features two stacked, octogonal formed compartments, embellished with an ebonized base lacquer. Garnished with silver and gilded motifs of blossoming tree branches, and birds, along with traditional Chinese symbolism. Finished with an arching handle and a scene along the lid of two regal figures, riding on the back of a saddled mule.
