Family Dog Original Vintage Poster No. 99-1: Avalon Ballroom 12/31/67, Graphic print on glossy, coated stock. Advertising a New Year's Eve Concert featuring Blue Cheer, Country Joe & The Fish, Lee Michaels, The Flamin' Groovies, Mad River and Mount Rushmore. Artwork for poster created by Thomas Weir and Bob Schnepf for Family Dog Productions. Framed without glass.
In 1966, a free-spirited rock promoter named Chet Helms teamed up with a bunch of hippies and started putting on some of the greatest rock events of all time. They called their commune/promotions company, The Family Dog. The Family Dog’s weekly dance hall revues gave the local bands a forum to perform their groundbreaking music. It was here in places like the Fillmore Auditorium and the Avalon Ballroom where the philosophies and ideals of a counterculture revolution found their voice.
The poster art created by Thomas Weir and Bob Schnepf to promote 1960s and 70s live music concerts, club dates and legendary events is among the most collectible rock poster art of the period.
