Item Details
Description
Bonacina (Giovanni Battista, ca. 1620-1664) and Cesare Fiori (1636-1702) Perseus and Andromeda, after Johann Christoph Storer (1620-1671), etching and engraving, a good impression with depth, on laid paper without watermark, sheet 309 x 219 mm. (12 1/8 x 8 5/8 in), trimmed within platemark, some ink inscriptions to lower left corner, one or two minor nicks, unframed, circa 1653.

⁂ The inscribed name 'Cesar Bonacina' would appear to refer to both Giovanni Battista Bonacina and Cesare Fiori, who were known to have collaborated on printing projects (see their 'Portrait of Giovanni Battista Trucchi', a copy is held in The British Museum, acc. no. 1870,1008.1084).

This lot is subject to VAT at 20% payable on the hammer price, which may be reclaimable as input VAT.
