NJ Hollow Carved Preening or Sleeping Decoy

Item Details

Description

A very nice, hollow-carved New Jersey Black Duck Decoy in the sleeping or preening position. Cedar body that is pegged and the bird retains its original painted surface. The head has carved details (nostrils, mouth, nail and eye rings) and mottled paint decoration. The bird is a worker, with evidence of having been shot-over. It retains its original lead weight and an old leather rig loop. The decoy is about 14" front-to-back, and about 6" high; at the widest, the body measures about 5 ½". Fine working condition: a few shot marks, but no splits, cracks or punky places. There may be some fill in the neck where it meats the body, but it is not noticeable. Shipping weight will be about 5 pounds (oversized box).
