Description
Roman, late Republic to early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A stunning bronze oinochoe (pouring vessel) with a slightly-concave ring base, a globular body, and a rounded shoulder which gracefully tapers to a short, cylindrical neck. The neck then broadens into a wide trefoil spout with a lipped and flared rim. The sinuous handle is held in place with three small rivets and decorated with a floral design just beneath the rim, then arches upwards before trailing downwards to its heart-adorned terminal. Both the handle and body have a rough, age-worn texture, though smooth areas inside areas of the rim as well as the base are still observable. The blue-green patina as well as the deep russet and emerald hued patina make for an incredible surface. Size: 3.25" W x 4.5" H (8.3 cm x 11.4 cm).
