A fine antique 19th century Japanese traveling shrine. Black / brown and gilt lacquer two door shrine with ornate metal detailing. The interior fitted with an impressive red and gilt carving of Buddha standing on a lotus petal base, with an elaborate open-work mandorla in the background. The interior doors painted with depictions of Bodhisattva on lotus leaves. Measures 6.5" high, 3-5/8" wide, 3" deep.
