Description
Paul Jacoulet (FRENCH / JAPAN, 1902 - 1960) original woodblock etching depicting a "Mers du Sud (South Seas) Cactus" depicting the flowering cactus with butterfly. Pencil signed to lower left with red sparrow chopseal. Stamped with Kentaro Maeda carver mark and Shunosuke Fujii printer mark to lower right with title. Published November 20, 1941. Mounted in a gold tone frame with fabric matting behind a glass screen.Measures 16" height by 12 1/2" width plus 3 1/2" mat & frame. Provenance: Acquired from a Palm Beach, Florida estate. Originally purchased by the estate at Robert C. Eldred Co., Inc. "Prints of Paul Jacoulet" auction;August 20, 1997; lot 75.
