Description
An artistic mosaic study by artist, naturalist and bestselling author Christopher Marley. 22 superb examples of Amethyst, a violet quartz that can be found in Siberia, Sri Lanka, Brazil and the Far East. Amethyst occurs in primary hues from a light pinkish violet to a deep purple and owes its violet color to irradiation and the presence of trace elements, which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions. Its name, from Greek, meaning “ to not intoxicate" is a reference to the ancient Greeks’ practice of wearing amethyst in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. As well as being a semiprecious stone, Amethyst is also the traditional birthstone for February. In 24"x30" frame. ; Artist: Christopher Marley ; Country of Origin: ; Issued:
