ASIAN CARVED LAPIS LAZULI BRUSH REST / STAND, carved in the form of mountain peaks, with three or more brush rests, incised and gilt-painted two-character mark to underside. Together with a carved soapstone Buddha or bodhisattva, the figure holding a basket with a fish in one hand, wearing loose robes with stained and gilt decoration. Probably 20th century. Brush rest 2 1/4" H, 4 1/2" L.
Excellent visual condition, brush stand with possible old repaired break to highest peak, figure with only a single minor flake to one finger, otherwise undamaged. Some expected natural irregularities, as made.
