AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN SILVER FLATWARE SERVICE, SET OF 18, comprising six 8 1/2" place knives having porcelain handles with enamel-painted floral decoration, six 8" place forks having porcelain handles with enamel-painted floral decoration, and six 6 3/4" solid silver table spoons, each with Austro-Hungarian silver marks for 13 loth, or .812 fineness, with date 1798, duty-free mark, and unidentified maker's marks including "CA" or crescent moon and "A" in lobed rectangle. In custom-fitted leather-bound travel case with cloth interior, and brass hardware. Total silver weight, not including porcelain-handled examples: 9.525 ozt. Late 18th/early 19th century. Case 4" HOA, 10" x 7" OA.
Very good condition overall, expected usage wear, five knives and two forks with cracks to handles, otherwise undamaged, case with moderate wear, some stains, and some losses to leather.
