CONTINENTAL SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN, oil on canvas, figure reading a letter by a shaft of light, cased portrait miniature open on the table beside her, after the orignal "La Lisuese" by Jean Raoux (French, 1677-1734), no signature located. Housed in a 19th-century gilt frame with molded-composition ornament. 19th century. 31" x 25 1/4" sight, 39 1/2" x 33 1/4" OA.
Portrait in very good visual condition with minor craquelure, scattered minor inpainting to figure's face, chest, arms, dress, and hair, heavier inpainting to background. Frame with very minor wear and losses.
