Description
18th-19th century AD. A gold plaque with ropework border, applied gold cells to accept five pearls and four rectangular enamel panels, beaded border and applied granules, hinged loop with pearls; to the reverse a nacre panel with incised bust of a saint, beaded border. 4.65 grams, 31mm (1 1/4"). Property of a British gentleman; formerly in the private collection of Russian businessman Yuri Golubev (1942-2007), some of his collection was published in his book 'Symbols and Images'; acquired by auction on 19 January 2006 from Artemission Ancient Art, London SW5; accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity, invoice and a copy of the listing.
