Description
1885 1ed Kings of Capital Leavitt American Dystopia Communism vs Capitalism
John Leavitt was Protestant Episcopal clergyman who wrote this extensive novel to inspire its readers. According to the preface of “Kings of Capital,” Leavitt aimed to“correct some of the enormous social abuses of our nation.”Leavitt showed his sense of sarcasm with the title, as a way of making light of the disarray he perceived in social aspects of the American Midwest. Leavitt addresses evils of plutocracy, and communism and how both create a negative environment for American Christians. While the story is fictional, Leavitt makes it clear that without change, many of the aspects of his novel could become true in a dystopian America.
