Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Neo-Babylonian, Early Dynastic Period, ca. late 7th to early 6th century BCE. A small hand-built terracotta male figure. He has a rough base, rounded shoulders, and a drilled perforation hole in the center of the chest. His face showcases classic archaic details like a chinstrap beard, almond-shaped eyes with raised pupils, a slender nose, and an arching brow line. His hair is held up by a triangular hat with a planar top, and the entire figure has a burnished surface. Perhaps a votive offering or a shrine figure, this is a lovely depiction from Neo-Babylonia! Size: 2.425" H (6.2 cm).
