Description

A Dutchess County NY red and white jacquard coverlet. The coverlet, with a central medallion of flowers, is surrounded with a border of grapes, leaves and flowers. Signed across the top and bottom borders "Mary Alice Vincent - Unionvale - Duchess Co. - 1850" - note the misspelling of Dutchess Co. It is in very good original condition. Size 96" x 74". Provenance: Found in a local, Pleasant Valley NY estate. The lot also includes 3 of Mary Alice Abel's (her married name) diplomas including NY Grange "Degree if Ceres", NY grange "Degree of Flora", and a Certificate of Membership in the "Woman's Christian Temperance Union of the State of NY".
