Description
George W. Brown Co. Forestville, CT. - Circa 1880's The U. S. S. Moniter was the first iron-hulls steamship built by the Union Navy. She was launched January 30, 1862. Built by the Continental Iron Works of Greenpoint, Brooklyn at a cost of $275,000 (This one won't cost that much!). The Moniter fought the U. S. S.
