Description
A QING DYNASTY (1644-1912) STYLE RED LACQUER LIDDED BOX, of lobed flori form, the lid with a figural scene of two attendants waiting on an old man, one attendant inside a Ming style veranda, the other carrying a fan, the scene divided into earth, water and sky motifs, a ruyi form cloud hangs within a boarder of rocky mountainous forms, a pine tree, a cypress tree, and bamboo, the sides of the top and bottom incised with lotus scrolls and blooms, the base with a six character incised and gilt Qianlong (1736-1795) style mark. Height: 3 5/8" Diameter: 13 5/8"
Condition
Some dust debris within the crevices, some minor surface wear mostly on interior edges, craquelure and some losses on the interior, gilt on six character mark now very faint, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age.
