Georgian Style Faux Tortoise Shell Dresser Boxes

Item Details

Description

Mid 19th century, likely Continental. The pair having a very handsome burned surface to simulate tortoise shell. Each box having rectangular top with shaped edge continuing down to a lid above two locking doors which open to reveal two small drawers at the interior, all resting atop four spun brass bun feet. Some wear to surface and slight shrinkage. Each box appears to have had hardware handles at each side earlier. Overall good condition. H7" W8 1/4" D6 1/8" Purchased by the owner in the 1980's from Garth's.
