Description
Marilyn Monroe Brick From 5258 Hermitage Ave. Norma Jean's 1st Los Angeles Home (Only One Known in Existence) W/Photo Foam Board - This special piece is the only known brick from what was once the home of Marilyn Monroe. The brick came from 5258 Hermitage Ave. in Los Angeles, the home in which lived when she was still a young Norma Jean Dougherty. Norma Jean was married at age 16, and lived in the home with her in-laws during World War II, from 1944 to 1945. During that time, she worked inspecting parachutes and spraying fire retardant on airplane parts, and was discovered as a model by a photographer working for then-Army publicist Capt. Ronald Reagan. The home was demolished in 2015 just days before a city commission was set to consider it for landmark status. This brick was taken by Emmy Award-nominated journalist Christina Pascucci, who serves as a reporter for LA's No. 1 morning news, KTLA, who was reporting on the story at the time. This is the only known brick from the house that survived. This piece will also be accompanied by a foam board with photos of a young Norma Jean and also of the house after demolition.
