Description
Kakemono painting with colors on silk. Japan, 19th century

The heads and faces of the boys are very lively and executed in the style of ukiyoe painting. All heads are bald except for one. One boy is sitting at a table with two cans. Another is pretending to paint on the scroll, like a child imitates adult activities. Another boy is studying the character Koto 琴 on the scroll, which refers to a type of Japanese zither. The boy holding up the scroll is also holding a large leaf-shaped fan. Signature BAI-DO 梅 島 hitsu 筆 and two red seals on the right. Baido Asana lived from 1816 to 1880 and also made colored woodblock prints. Mounted with silk and silk brocade with gold, ivory jikusaki.

Condition: Slight damaged paper, silk loss and subtle stains - painting in good condition
