Central Asia, Tibet, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A convex, cast brass, boss-like disc, its face incised with a six-pointed star (a hexagram), and two concentric circles at its center. The six-pointed star symbol is an important one in Tibet, as well as anywhere with adherents to Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. The shape represents two triangles locked together in a peaceful, complementary embrace. Size: 3" W (7.6 cm)
