Description
**Originally Listed At $1500**
Southeast Asia / Oceania, Indonesia, Sumba, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A fascinating and rare object - a huge megalodon tooth, twelve teeth of varying sizes, a large seed pod, a bone carved into the face of an ungulate, a trio of what appear to be Chinese coins, two bone beads, multiple glass beads, including red and blue, and two bronze bells, all tied together using twine and a dark red ribbon. This bundle of seemingly disconnected, assorted objects was made as part of a traditional healer's battery of tools to confront illness and evil spirits - often seen as one and the same - in his or her community.
