Description
Canonet G-III QL17 - WITH BOX AND CANOLITE D FLASH - OWNED AND USED BY PHOTOGRAPHER MIKE BARICH. All in near mint boxes. The Canonet G-III QL17 is a coupled-rangefinder, leaf-shuttered, fixed-focal-length 35 mm camera first manufactured by Canon in 1972. It features fully shutter-priority automatic exposure and fully manual shooting modes.
The Canonets were a series of rangefinder cameras made by Canon from the early 1960s to the early 1980s. They were aimed at enthusiasts on a budget and more discerning point-and-shoot photographers. In Mike’s own words: “This camera was the best amateur camera of it’s time. It was the way to go - the fastest you could get. We used this for everything. It was the first camera I would pull out at the show. You could snapp off 6 rolls - very quick. This camera would have been used for mostly local concerts, like underbeatrs, avantis, castaways, morticians, and I also used it to photograph the Turtles!”
THE CAMERA'S OF MIKE BARICH - Mike Barich is a famous photographer that covered the Twin Cities rock scene in the `60s and `70s He has photographed the Stones, Joplin, Hendrix, the Doors and hundreds more. Mike also was a highly skilled commercial model and product photographer. You can now own his entire camera collection including this model. All Camera’s are sold as is. These cameras and accessories are sold as collector items. although at the time of the sale most were lightly cleaned and tested. PHOTO OF JIM MORRISON (C) 1969 by Mike Barich.
