Galle vase has stylized Marquetry leaves, stems and flowers against a swirling brown and tan background. The leaves are done in a light green glass while the flowers are done in subtle white with yellow centers. Vase is marked on the side with engraved oriental style signature "Galle" and also marked "Etude". Pieces marked "Etude" are Marquetry pieces that suffered some type of damage during the delicate manufacturing process. If Galle determined that the piece was important enough and artistic enough, he would mark them "Etude" and sell them with the flaws. There is an internal stress line in the side of the vase near the foot that does not break the surface but reflects when back lit, it is approximately 1-1/2" long. There is a second stress line on the opposite side of the vase at about the same height. This one appears to reach the surface. It is only about 1" long, otherwise very good.
