Gorgeous Chinese grisaille painting of a soaring eagle on paper. Hand-painted Chinese semi-cursive characters, with iron-red seal is located on the right side of the image. The eagle is displayed with the wings full extended, head cocked over the right shoulder, and talons outstretched. Directly below the eagle is a twisted pine bent permanently as if blown by the wind. An Eagle in Chinese art can symbolize strength. The Eagle tail feathers are considered a potent charm. Di-gan Rod is firm and true allowing for the scroll to be wrapped easily and transported safely. Very well preserved and presented in a crème-colored palate.
