Thick Chinese porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, with a narrow base, wide body, narrow neck, and a small opening. The exterior decorated with hand painting in copper-red underglaze. large gliding phoenix traverses thrashing cumulus cloud form. Phoenix - Feng-Huang - represents beauty, goodness, warmth, prosperity, peace, the Sun, abundance harvests, and reason in government. It is commonly used as a female symbol. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. The underside base left unglazed, reveal pale-creme with burnt grayish-orange spots in the firing.
