Chinese Jar, with dragon motif and cylindrical lid. Sturdy porcelain jar with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. The exterior is adorned with a domineering serpentine Dragon that is coated in a watery grey-blue underglaze. The central dragon thrashes among smoldering flame reaching for a flaming pearl. A single light blue ring circumscribes the lid and bottom rim. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. The glaze terminates above the foot, revealed the pale-creme unglazed ground, with the central circle base left white underglaze. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.
