Description
A large antique Japanese hand wrought iron escutcheon plate. Late Edo / early Meiji era. Etched and incised decoration depicting Seishi Bosatsu a Bodhisattva of wisdom, strength and power (monk warrior). Sheshi holds a sword and is depicted with a large Shishi temple lion with well defined claws (essentially guarding over the door). Measures 17" high, 11.75" wide.
