Engraved by Thomas Conder for the 1794 first edition of Robert Wilkinson General Atlas.
DIMENSIONS: 13.25 x 10.75 inches (33.5 x 27.5 cm).
DESCRIPTION: Robert Wilkinsons detailed 1st edition 1794 map of Poland. Covers Poland, Polish Prussia, Lithuania & Ukraine. This map of the Polish borders set by the 2nd Partition, 1790. Prior to this map publication, Russian Army under Catherine the Great, invaded the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth annexing it into the Russian empire. This and the 1794 Kosciuszko Uprising, preceded the 3rd partition in 1795.
CARTOGRAPHERS: Robert Wilkinson (1768-1825) a London map and atlas publisher in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1794, Wilkinson issued his fully original atlas, The General Atlas of the World that was reissued numerously until 1825 when Wilkinson died.
Thomas Conder (1747 - June 1831) an English map engraver and bookseller in London during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
