From the estate of Theodore (Teddy) Sommer (1924-2017), American jazz percussionist and vibraphonist.
Constantin Alajalov (American, 1900-1987), a portrait painter, illustrator and cartoonist, was born Russia. Famous to several generations of The New Yorker, The Saturday Evening Post, Vogue and other publications readers with his droll cartoons and covers. Immigrated to the United States in 1923. Lived in New York and Southampton, was a sports cartoonist for The New York Evening Post in the 1930s, taught drawing and modern art painted murals for the Sherry-Netherland Hotel and the liner America and illustrated many books. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum and other institutions.
