Description
Ca. 1930s, having carved greyhounds flanking opening, approximate height 40 1/4", length 60", depth 16". Provenance: Comes from the estate of American artist Loretta Howard Sturgis; previously belonged to her mother Loretta Hines Howard and is believed to have come from mansion Maxwelton near Logan, Ohio, which burned January 16, 1941.
Condition
Damage consistent with fire damage including water damage to plywood top, smoke damage near opening of mantel and on back, water staining on back, bottom replaced, touch ups to paint.
