This lot features an interesting estate collection of vintage souvenirs, collectibles, and keepsakes.

The lot includes eleven pieces: a small handwoven wool/camel hair rug apparently from Saudi Arabia measuring approximately 17" x 18"; a pair of baseball cards, one for Cleveland Indians pitcher Bob Lemon and the other for Cleveland Indians pitcher Bob Feller; a small bag containing an amethyst crystal with a pamphlet indicating that it originated in the "famous Jacobina mine"; a small gemstone with a pamphlet describing it as "precious olivine...the only true gem indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands"; a molded cellulite sculpture of Don Quixote; two sets of drafting tools, one from Keuffel & Esser Co. and the other marked "U.S. Government Property"; a pair of carved marble bookends depicting Native American headdresses; and a booklet of the "50 State Commemorative Quarters 1999-2008" with every slot filled and five additional quarters attached.

The items in this consignment come to us from the estate of a noted U.S. government official who began his career as a Navy captain in the 1970s and rose to high-ranking positions in the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Department of State. Over the course of more than fifty years of service, this official traveled to hundreds of different nations to promote the interests of the United States abroad. Many of the items in this auction were obtained during those journeys and were either presented to the official by foreign dignitaries and military leaders or otherwise acquired as souvenirs and gifts.
