West Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan, ca. early 20th century CE. A lovely trio of carved wooden feast spoons. One spoon has an elongated oval-shaped form, and a short handle carved to resemble the head of an ancestor. Two other utilitarian spoons have deep scoop cavities, broad profiles, and elongated handles, one perforated for suspension. Each spoon displays a lustrous dark-brown patina, and each appears to have been well-used. Size of longest: 18.5" L (47 cm).

Condition
All spoons have surface wear commensurate with age and use, minor losses to peripheries and high-point areas, with weathered appearances and nice dark-brown patina throughout. One spoon has two large but stable cracks in the center of the scoop.
