FRANKLIN INSTITUTE SILVER AWARD MEDAL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY, obverse with embossed "FRANKLIN INSTITUTE OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA" encircling a bust of Benjamin Franklin signed for Christian Gobrecht (American, 1785-1844) with "1824" below, reverse embossed with "REWARD OF SKILL AND INGENUITY" above wreath engraved "To McClees & Germon / Philada, Pa / For / Talbotypes / 1851". House in a fitted thermoplastic daguerreotype case. Circa 1851. Medal 2" D, 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" case.
Medal has been cleaned and exhibits light scratches and nicks to edges, case excellent with some minor flaking to edges/corners.
