Pair of Emil Jacobi re-proof prints made after other artists: Signed "E. Jacobi" in pencil (LL) and labeled in pencil to resemble original artist's signature (LR). Stamped "RE-PROOF" within print (LR) above pencil signature. Frame size 20 x 17 inches, sight size 13 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches. Matted and framed. Provenance: Known as "Jacobi Re-proofs", works like this show Jacobi's skill at reproducing an image. He was quoted in Frederick H. Hitchcock's "The Building of a Book" (The Grafton Press, 1906) describing how he photographed an original artwork to create a contact negative and used this to make a plate. He colored the plate for each impression, made the impression and signed his own name and a copy of the artist’s signature.
