Description
**Originally Listed At $250**
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. last quarter of the 19th century. A framed erotic ink drawing on silk fabric. The artist has provided a bird's eye view of this pair of lovers who are engaged an intimate encounter, quite graphically depicted, upon a chaise lounge in an outdoor garden - some of their garments draped over the decorative banister, a bamboo tree in the background, and an elegant blue vase of flowers just behind the couple, perhaps symbolizing their fertility - all hand drawn with ink and hand colored in watercolor. A wonderful example of Asian erotic art from this period. Set in a triple mat (gold, cornflower blue, and off-white linen) under glass in a gold-hued wooden frame. Size: 10.125" L x 7.5" W (25.7 cm x 19 cm); 20.125" L x 17" W (51.1 cm x 43.2 cm) including mats and frame
Provenance: private Rochester, Michigan, USA collection
