Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A charming canteen with two lugged handles, a wide spout, and painted and relief motifs. On each side, a crouching jaguar figure is a the center of a stippled background, set within a repeated triangular border that recalls a mountain range or possibly a rising sun. Red, orange, black, and white pigment give the piece a cheerful, colorful appearance. Size: 6" W x 7.3" H (15.2 cm x 18.5 cm)

Condition
Small chips and nicks from the surface, notably from the rim and from the lower part of one side of the body. Excellent remaining pigment and motifs are very clear.
