(2) Documents incl 1845 appraisal of 150+ slaves, (2) documents related to American slavery: 1) Appraiser's Bill, Printed at the "Noxubee Times" Office, Macon, Miss. An appraisal of the "goods, chattels, and personal estate of Nathaniel H. Hooc [?]" dated March 17, 1845. Attached is a list of more than 150 slave names and their value. Overall size 8"w x 34" long, folded to 8"w x 13" long. Tattered around edges, with multiple creases, tape repairs at folds. 2) Extracts from the American Slave Code. Second edition of 10,000. No. 1. 5.75"w x 9"h. 4 pages.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of Charles E. Sigety. The late Charles E. Sigety was a renowned collector of Americana, ranging from examples of Norman Rockwell to important historic documents. A selection of his collection was sold at Christie's New York in 2016.
