Description
A lovely Gnathian Greek pelike, 4th Century BC, of classic form and decorated with a central scene depicting a swan bordered on either side by flowers, a Maeander pattern bordered by pellets below, bands containing vertical tongues, grape and ovolo devices above. The opposite side is adorned with an ovolo band above a band containing a grape vine, the entire vessel is slipped in black. H: 9 2/5 in (24cm). Nice style with light deposits and some surface weathering. Ex Seattle, WA private collection.
