BLUE SILK AND WOOL PROMENADE ENSEMBLE, comprising a skirt with matching lapis lazuli blue bodice, interior label "E. M. Jermyn 753 7th Avenue NY.", expert tailoring overall; skirt with kick pleats, also with shallow train and softly draped and gathered for small bustle on the back. bodice with long sleeves, burgundy velvet collar and cuffs trimmed with ivory colored piping, both skirt and bodice decorated overall with burgundy and carmine red floral punchwork, bodice with punchwork across pleated placket in front with hook and eye closures, metal stays. Circa 1890. Measures approximately 34" bust, 26" waist, 57" LOA.
Very good condition with moderate moth damage overall, slightly soiled and stained in several small areas, period mending over several areas across the front of the bodice as well as interior, period mending on skirt. Skirt has relatively new repairs and support to waistband, back seam on skirt has come loose with tear along seamline, fraying, silk lining has moderate shattering, also loose threads, loose stitching overall with other minor snags and moderate damage from wear, no evidence of mothball or similar strong storage odors.
